5 PODCASTS FOR FITNESS LOVERS
When I first started running and working out, I used to listen to music. That was until I discovered the magic of podcasts. I now listen to podcasts at work, at the gym, in the car, when I’m running, and just in general.
Don’t get me wrong, when I’m doing a HIIT session, intervals or something else, I will still go for some pumping music, but I do love a good old podcast. I love being made to laugh, being made to smile or feeling empowered all through the podcast.
I listen to a good mix of podcasts, but most of mine are either fitness related or radio 1 related. Here is a list of 5 podcasts that I would recommend for fitness lovers. These are based on what I like to listen to – pop me a message if you’ve got any other recommendations and I’ll put them on my list.
1. Run, Selfie, Repeat
I find Kelly Roberts open, inspiring, and brutally honest. Running and fitness can come with ups and downs, the good, the bad and the ugly and this podcast really speaks out and explores all sides of running and fitness. The clips are short weekly discussions, talking about your goals, motivations, struggles. It is nice to hear someone talk about every side of running/fitness as we know it’s not all plain sailing, and hearing someone else go through that is so relatable. It also gives us the chance to celebrate our goals and achievements.
To hear about life with a side of running, this is the podcast for you.
2. Scott Mills Daily
This is one podcast I definitely look forward to every time I turn my headphones on. This is one I know can literally make me laugh out loud. All of the best bits and extra’s from Scott Mills & Chris Stark – this show is filled with games, stories, listeners, laughs. A podcast 5 days a week, up to 40 minutes, it is well worth keeping you motivated as you’re just spending the whole time laughing. I tend to listen to podcasts that involve conversations as I forget I am running – on training runs, you should run at a pace you can have a conversation with, and so by listening to the two chatting, you don’t focus on the pain of running. It’s just always one that guarantees me a smile!
3. Marathon Talk
Probably one of the more famous podcasts in the running industry. By runners, for runners. This podcast keeps you up to date with all the news in the running world, whilst providing you with inspiration, motivation and knowledge. I only listen to a few of the Marathon Talk podcasts every now and then as they are quite long, averaging 1 hour 30 minutes – but I really enjoyed the honesty from Martin Yelling, Tom Williams and if they have any guests. I will pick and choose the podcasts that really stand out to me, but I always feel enlightened when I listen and use it as a way to keep up to date with all things running.
4. Fit & Fearless
Now at the time of writing this, I have actually only listened to two of the #GirlGains crew podcast but I have loved them so far. Tally, Zanna and Vic talk all things fitness and body confidence. I feel like what they have to say on the podcast really just relates to my life – I agree with everything they’re saying, they’re very laid back and I just really enjoy getting ideas and inspiration from the girls. From having this attitude after just listening to two podcasts, i am very ready to listen to their future clips. They’ve gained a fan on their instagrams, a new subscriber to their show and I feel inspired listening to them.
5. My Dad Wrote a Porno
Sorry not a fitness related one, but you have three out of five! This is definitely one to make sure to keep in the headphones, Jamie’s dad wrote a porno – plain and simple description. He found out and decided to read it to the world with the help of his friends, James and Alice. This is one to make you laugh, cringe and just keep you entertained.
